This is an exciting week! We are exploring poetry, fractions and the concept of area and perimeter! Students are creating beautiful name banners using 1 cm graph paper and then calculating the perimeter and area of their names. We will determine who has the longest perimeter and the most area of all, by Friday! Here are a few samples. I think they are all terrific! We have also started a new game in our math class called Prodigy. Everyone seems excited to play this role play game where spells are cast, pets are adopted and wizards are defeated while solving math problems. Students brought home log in information so that they can access their accounts at home, too. It is exciting to see how motivated students are to play (and learn)!
